We strive to make the care experience at Southstone Recovery Center as supportive as possible. We have answered some frequently asked questions (FAQs) about our facility in South Boston, Virginia, to give prospective participants and their families an idea of what to expect.

What Services Do You Provide?

At Southstone Recovery Center, we offer a partial hospitalization program (PHP) for women age 18 and older who are struggling with addictions and co-occurring mental health concerns. Our services are intended to instill hope and promote positive change in the lives of the women we serve.

What Concerns Do You Address?

The highly experienced team at Southstone helps women work toward healing from addictions to the following:

  • Alcohol
  • Opioids
  • Cocaine
  • Meth
  • Benzos
  • Stimulants

For women who have primary substance use disorders, we treat mental health concerns as secondary diagnoses. We can help participants who have co-occurring concerns including:

  • Depression
  • Bipolar disorder
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
  • Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

Is Your Program Licensed & Accredited?

Southstone Recovery Center will be licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services as an ASAM 2.5 level of service and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, both of which require:

  • An interdisciplinary team of addiction treatment professionals, including counselors, psychologists, social workers, and addiction-credentialed physicians
  • Physicians who have specialty training or experience in addiction medicine
  • Staff members who are able to obtain and interpret information regarding participants’ needs
  • Staff members who are trained to understand the signs and symptoms of mental health concerns and to understand and be able to explain the uses of medications and their interactions with substance use disorders

Do You Accept Insurance?

Yes, we work with most major insurance companies. We accept Medicaid, commercial, and private insurance. However, we do not accept TRICARE or Cigna. A knowledgeable member of our team can verify your insurance benefits to make sure that the treatment you receive at our Virginia facility is covered under your plan.

What Is Your Admissions Process?

Prospective participants must complete an initial assessment, which they can do anytime, day or night, over the phone. In-person assessments can be scheduled ahead of time.

Based on the results of your assessment, we will let you know whether our South Boston treatment center is a good fit for you or provide you with resources for another placement.

Can I Smoke at the Facility?

Yes, smoking is allowed, but vaping is not permitted.

What Do I Need To Bring?

Bring a week’s worth of clothes, shoes, current medications, and cash or Visa gift cards to purchase cigarettes if you smoke. A list of allowed and prohibited items can be provided upon request.

Can I Use the Telephone To Call Family?

Yes, you can schedule phone calls for the evenings and Zoom calls on the weekends.

Can I Have My Cellphone?

No, cellphones are not allowed.

Do You Accept Pregnant Women?

Yes, we accept pregnant women who are in their first or second trimester.
